Abby’s Adventures and other Tales

Let me share the story of Friday’s adventures:

Our day started (outside of our room) with breakfast in the cafeteria. Hard boiled egg, bread and a soup. It was pretty good and we were starving. So we quickly ate that and then got to the morning prayer gathering.

One of the things I absolutely love about this facility is the prayers – prayers for healing of all the children, for various situations withing the organization and for the staff.  It is so very special to gather with these amazing people and pray for miracles!

After prayer we were able to tour a bit and spend time with the kiddos. Gifts were given and before we knew it, it was time for lunch! The cafeteria does such a great job with getting food to kids and staff. We had a great lunch and then we had a meeting with nannies, the doctor on staff, the therapists and his preschool teacher. I was given the art work that he has done while here and a flash drive full of pictures and videos through they past 3 years! That is so very special!

After the meeting, we joined in Abby’s preschool class . Playing with kiddos and seeing their sweet smiles! Who knew that Row, Row, Row your Boat could be so invigorating?!

Once the day was over and all the kiddos were getting dinner, it was time for us to go “home”. We ended up going out to Hot Pot with a few staffers. It was great fun and awesome food!

And yes, 3 of us sat in the back of this motor bike to get to the restaurant! We went off roading at times and got to get full intake of the local village.

After dinner, we went over to Donna’s  for game night. By this time it was 7:15/7:30 and Michelle and I were hitting the jet lag wall. We hung out until around 9:45 and we just couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer. We were able to hop back into the motor bike bed and catch a ride back to the foster home. It was so great to meet new people and spend time with others who had volunteered for years.

Finally back to our room, we both were in our beds and out before 10:15.

Today will consist of playing a bit more with the kiddos and then catching a train tonight. We leave the foster home tonight at 4:30/5 and then travel overnight to Nanchang, Jiangxi. We should arrive around 7 am. This is the next step to getting Ari forever!
